Saurav Ganguly: The Transformer

If there is any replacement for word fearless its Saurav Ganguly. Be that spinning the shirt as a reply or be that hitting a six out of the park to prove the best in the class. The new definition for savage in Indian cricket team was and will always be the “Dada”.

Even known as one of the best opening batsman Indian cricket has ever been produced, Dada revealed that he became a cricketer by an accident. Dada was good at Football, it was his life but during one summer vacation his father told him that ‘you’re doing nothing at home, go and practice’. He put him in a cricket academy. From there, journey of successful opener and enigmatic captain had started. The aggressive style of Ganguly helped team India to set higher standards.

Dada has been known for pulling out the Indian cricket team through a series of obstacles like match fixing allegations. Ganguly, throughout his captaincy, gave a chance to raw talents and now they became champion cricketers. He brought the players like MS Dhoni, Zaheer Khan, Nehra, Bhajji, breaking the tradition of bringing players from metropolitan cities. Picked Dhoni and gave him several chances so that Dhoni could prove himself and now outcome of this decision is now very well known to us. He always backed his players both on and off the field.

Dada, ‘accidentally’ became a cricketer, as said by him, had captained Indian in 49 tests, 146 ODIs. Widely recognized as ‘god of off side’ for his elegant batting style also had a good spot in bowling department. Currently, 8th highest run scorer in ODI and was the 3red batsman in history to cross 10k run landmark. Dada now managing the chair of President of BCCI.
