AIR INDIA KOZHIKODE ACCIDENT: WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

A Vande Bharat flight IX 1344 with 191 passengers onboard was being operated from Dubai to Kozhikode. The incident took place around 7:45 pm when the B737 skidded off the runway and broke into two pieces. There were 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots and 4 Cabin Crew onboard the aircraft. “17 dead, 123 injured and 15 seriously injured in Kozhikode plane crash incident at Karipur Airport”, said Malappuram SP, according to news agency ANI. Visibility was 2000 meter at the time of landing,” the aviation regulator confirmed. The aviation regulator ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter, according to the reports. Kerala CM spoke to Prime Minister and PM NAMO has assured him of full assistance. DG, NDRF has said that the task to remove the debris will take time. Minister A.C. Moideen will lead the rescue efforts at the Kozhikode International Airport. Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri is personally monitoring the situation. Further investigation will be done once the black box is retrieved and thankfully 170 people are alive.
