RAM NAVAMI: Muhurat, Celebration, Significance, Home celebration

Ram Navami celebrated as the birthday of the lord Ram. It is celebrated in the festival of spring (Navratri), the 9 days long festival of the Navratri comes to the end with the celebration of the epic festival of Ram Navami. He is particularly important to the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism, as the seventh avatar of God Vishnu. The festival is celebrated on the ninth day of the waxing moon in the Hindu month of Chaitra. Beautiful thing about this festival is, people this holy occasion by observing fast, reading Rama’s legendary stories and chanting the mantras. Not only people so this things but they also decorate the house and temple. The visit the lord Vishnu temple and worship him. This year people can’t visit the temple due to the deadly virus, but surely they will stay at home and pray for the betterment of the current condition.

Muhurta for the celebration :

According to sources, the muhurta for ram Navami madhyahna will begin at 11:02 am and end at 1:38 pm. The Navami tithe will begin at 12:43 am on April 21 and end at 12:35 am on April 22. It is believed that lord ram was born during madhyahna period or the middle of the day.

Significance of Ram Navami celebration:

As per Hindu mythology, Lord Ram is the central figure in Ramayana and was born to Queen Kausalya and King Dasharatha in Ayodhya. Ram Navami is celebrated to mark the descent of the Vishnu avatar of Lord Ram on earth.
Lord Ram is mentioned not in the ancient Hindu scriptures, but also in Jain and Buddhist texts.

This is how we can celebrate Ram Navami at home:

Clean a nice place or the mandir at home. Lord Rama is the main deity worshipped during Rama Navami, so place a photo or an idol of Lord Ram. Along with Lord Rama, Mata Kaushalya, King Dasharatha, Sita and the three younger brothers of Lord Rama – Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna are also worshipped. Hanuman Ji, the biggest devotees of Lord Ram must be worshipped on is auspicious day.

Involve all members of the family in the Ram Navami puja. Traditionally young girls in the family put teeka on the forehead of all in the family. Ganga jal, roli and aipun are sprinkled on the gods, and then rice is showered on the deities or photos of Ram, Lakshman, Sita and Hanuman Ji. After prayers, everyone perform the aarti and bhajans are sung. Finally, prasad is distributed among all family members.
