Kargil Vijay Divas: the brave story of heroes
Kargil, an epitome of inexorable courage, patriotism and valour of Indian soldiers, who stood like the Himalayan range to defend India. It was a military, diplomatic and political victory for India, today July 26, 2020, is the 21st anniversary of India’s one of the most recent and infamous example of high-altitude warfare that are fought on mountainous terrains. Considered as more dangerous due to rough terrain and natural habitat.
India and Pakistan fought this war in Kargil, initially was Baltistan district in Kashmir. Pakistani troops infiltrated into Indian territory along LOC. Indian Army launched an operation “Operation Vijay” to clear and recapture the Kargil sector.

Indian army brutally defeated the Pakistan army in 1999. War ended on 26 July 1999 and since then, this day celebrated as “Kargil Vijay Divas” to commemorate the victory of Operation Vijay.
The war took place between May 3 and July 26, 1999. To the Kargil’s bravery war heroes, who laid their life for the country, we saluting them and always bow down to the sacrifice they made.
The Indian Air Force’s operation “Safed Sagar” was a major part of the Kargil War. It used air power at the high terrain with minus turbulent atmosphere at height of 32,000 feet for the first time. From identifying the Pakistani troops to interdiction, all the actions were performed well by the pilots despite just one week of training. Amid this heightened tension, a 25 year old Fyling officer, posted at Udhampur, Gunjan Saxena took a responsibility by entering into battle. Find herself caught in the crossfire, “The Kargil Girl” a title she erned for this, scripted a history as the first women to enter the combat zone in Kargil.
Indian Navy also launched “Operation Talwar” to blockade Pakistan port, especially the one in Karachi, to stop the supply of oil and fuel during the war.

A war hero, referred as “Lion of Ladakh” Col. Sonam Wangchuk with his men had wrested a first victory in the war. The bravehearts, roaring lions of Indian Army Manoj Kunar Pandey, Vikram Batra, Yogendra Singh Yadav, Sanjay Kumar, Rajesh Adhikari, Balwan Singh, Anuj Nayyar with about 500 bravery worriers were martyred in the battle.
Literally, words are insufficient to describe how brave and powerful they were! The pride, the honour of India, Salute to them!
Their sacrifice will be remembered. They have lost lives we can do bit for our country in anyway possible. It’s our duty over responsibility.
