HIDDEN FIGURES OF THE SCIENCE WORLD
THESE FIGURES WERE THE FIRST
-TO classify the stars based on their temperature
-TO discover rapidly rotating neutron star

  • (not first) but to work as a ‘computer’ in NASA
And many more major things ….
Ok now let’s come down to the basic things these figures invented
    -ICE CREAM MAKER
    -AQUARIUM
    -DISHWASHER
    And the list goes on…

You may wonder who are these people. Maybe some of you might know about them. Before we processed, I want to share something with u
So, when I was in 10th grade my classmate asked a question. The question was “there are lots of topper girls in the school or around the world more than men but why in the scientific history we see and learned only about the men who discovered or invented stuff?” this question triggers me and made us believe that its true and at that time I couldn’t answer him but now I know the correct answer to this question.

THE LIST YOU READ ABOVE WAS ALL DISCOVERED OR INVENTED BY WOMEN.

1.ANNIE JUMP CANNON

Annie Jump Cannon was born on December 11, 1863.she was the eldest of three daughters born to Wilson cannon. she became a member of Harvard computers a group of women hired by Harvard Observatory director Edward C Pickering to complete the Hendry draper catalogue, with the goal of mapping and defining every star in the sky to a photographic magnitude of about 9. Not long after work began on the Draper Catalogue, a disagreement developed as to how to classify the stars. cannon started by examining the bright southern hemisphere stars. After absorption lines were understood in terms of stellar temperatures, her initial classification system was rearranged to avoid having to update star catalogues. she published her first catalogue of stellar spectra in 1901. In 1914, she was admitted as an honorary member of the Royal astronomical society.
2.KATHERINE JOHNSON

KATHERINE JOHNSON was born on august 26 1918, was an American mathematician and a NASA employee. In the 1950s, there were no computers like we have today. People had to solve hard math problems by themselves. They often used to add machines and rulers. These people were called “computers.” The NACA (NASA) hired women to work as computers.
Early in her career, she was called a “computer. “her work was mainly to calculated trajectories, launch windows and emergency return paths. Johnson and the other African-American women in the computing pool were required to work, eat, and use restrooms that were separate from those of their white peers. Their office was labelled as “Coloured Computers”. depict being discriminated based on colour and being African women, she chooses to ignore and became the women who helped NASA to put first astronaut into orbit around Earth and helped to put man on Moon.
President Barack Obama presented her with Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of 17 Americans so honoured on November 24, 2015. And many more awards.

Not only American but there were INDIAN gems too like
-ASIMA CHATTERJEE was first Indian female to earn doctorate degree and was successful organic chemist of her time. She successfully developed anti-epileptic and anti-malarial drugs. Another outstanding contribution to the world of chemistry was her work on vinca alkaloids which belong to Madagascar periwinkle plants. They are used in chemotherapy to help slow down the cancer cells from multiplying.
-JANKI AMMAL Was a renowned botanist and plant cytologist who made significant contributions to genetics, evolution, phytogeography and ethnobotany. She also worked on the cytogenetics of a range of plants and co-authored the chromosome atlas of cultivated plants. She was awarded by Padma shri in 1977.
THE FIELD OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HAD BEEN AN OVERLY MALE DOMINATED AREA SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL. 80s, 90s era was tough for women around the world. In those time females were considered as ‘delicate’ or we can say untaught. Only few of them were given freedom to think out of box. But a strong will and determination will never let a person to sit at one place let go their dreams, and so did the all the women who are now remembered by everyone

“SCIENCE IS A STREAM WHICH WILL NEVER LET PEOPLE STOP DREAMING AND NOW IN TH RACE WOMEN ARE ALSO EQUIVALENT TO THE MEN”
