ZOMATO ANNOUNCES 10 DAY PERIOD
LEAVE FOR ITS WOMEN EMPLOYEES
According to initial reports Zomato has announced 10 day periods leave for its female employees and it has asked its
male employees not to feel indifferent.
Women carry the pain of periods every month and it is a welcome move. I expect every India company to follow suit. There are very few companies who have followed this policy at the
management level. Work life balance for our women is still hard because they have to work a lot harder. But everyone is welcoming this move and this is a very brave move.
Mumbai-based digital communication firm Gozoop was among the first organisations to have a period leave policy in place in March 2017. Bansi Raja, chief happiness officer, Gozoop, had told Femina in an interview, “The
thought behind this policy is that when a woman needs to rest, she has the option to work from her comfort zone
which will enable her to work more effectively. We ensured it to be a work-from-home scheme so that it does not lower women’s chances of equal opportunities when it comes to promotions and increments.” Gozoop was one of the first companies to implement this policy at pan India
level.
