Iconic Bollywood Characters that reside in our heart rent free! Our loved favourite characters from bollywood and what made them iconic!

Over the past 10 years, Bollywood has brought to us innumerable stories. Strong characters leave imprints. As we celebrate the end of a decade, we remember some of the best Bollywood movie characters who have impressed us with their performances.

1. BARFI definitely makes it first to the list of iconic bollywood characters.

Barfi! is a 2012 comedy-drama film co-produced, written and directed by Anurag Basu.
Murphy “Barfi” Johnson ,a deaf-mute boy from Darjeeling and his relationships with two women, Shruti and Jhilmil. Barfi’s character was played by Ranbir Kapoor. This character catched our eyes by its innocence and fun nature. Always ready to prank up and a real charmer. His character tells us to enjoy smallest thing in life no matter how tough life is. Cheer up! Be barfi !

2. GEET.

Jab We Met is a 2007  romantic comedy film written and directed by Imtiaz Ali.   Fiesty punjabi girl geet dhillon. Every girl thought there was a little of geet  inside their hearts when this character was on screen. Kareena kapoor khan was a fire cracker playing this role . Geet’s dialogue ‘main apni favourite hu’ taught us so much of self love.  Geet made her own rules so that she can own up her mistakes too. She refused to settle for a compromise in love.

3. RANCHO.

One of the iconic bollywood characters is Rancho from 3 idiots! 3 Idiots is a 2009  coming-of-age comedy-drama film and directed by Rajkumar Hirani.  There are some characters  which come home with you, sticking to your mind, heart and emotions. Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad aka Phunsukh Wangdu  from 3 Idiots was the latter. Rancho  played by Aamir Khan remains etched in our memories, and the ‘Aal izz Well’ is still our motivation. His point of view towards education made every student hit their brains. And surely his character made a great impact.

4. NAINA.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani a romantic drama film, directed by Ayan Mukherji. No one could play chashmish better than Deepika padukone did. She lived the character.”Jitna bhi try karo Bunny life me kuch na kuch toh chootega hi. Toh jahan ho wahin ka mazaa lete hai”. Naina’s words definitely strike a chord in our hearts. She is total inspiration when she turns from unconfident Scholar Naina to fearless, independent Doctor Naina Talwar is surely an iconic bollywood character!

5. KHILJI.

Padmaavat is a 2018 epic period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Khilji, played by ranveer singh brought us goosebumps. He himself had to seek help of psychiatrist as he had completely submerged into the character.  The cruel ruler Alauddin Khilji in ‘Padmaavat’ who does not believe in principles or mercy. 

6. BASANTI.

Sholay a 1975  action-adventure film ,directed by Ramesh Sippy was a all time hit. Beautiful Hema malina had played this confident character. ” Basanti Inn Kutto Ke Samne Mat Nachna” is enough to know how much craze this character had brought. Fearless Basanti with her horse Dhanno flaunted her charm and is surely immortal in our hearts.

7. MUNNA BHAI: How could we miss our own Munnabhai in the list of most iconic bollywood characters.

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. is a 2003 , comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani .Murli Prasad Sharma, better known as Munna Bhai, played by Sanjay dutt is one of the most memorable characters till date. When Munna Bhai enters the frame in his signature style, offering a ‘Jaadu Ki Jhappi’, all hearts melt. Despite being a ‘bhai’, he is lovable. Despite extortion calls, he is the go-to person for everyone. Also despite threats of kidnapping, he is scared of his parents.

8. BABURAO.

Hera Pheri comedy film directed by Priyadarshan, in year 2000.Apart from its hilarious dialogues and comedy of errors, major credit goes to one man who lifts the movie entirely – Baburao Ganpatrao Apte aka Babu Bhaiya played by powerhouse performer Paresh Rawal. The character is also the “soul” of this sleeper hit, which has acquired a cult status over the years. ” Ye baburao ka style hai” is an emotion!

They define Immortality!!!
