Fashion trends are influenced by popular figure in society like celebrities, other high profile individuals. Curry, fashion trends are often cyclical, taking cues from the past decades and recreating them to fit the modernity.Fashion is one of the essential mode of expression. It always describes the variable style of clothes.
By the time, 90’s was far more delicate than the garish, with all the trends making a comeback, bollywood actress of that era donning the trends and making them popular among the masses.

Rekha was also the one who ruled the bollywood by her style. Makeup was glamourous, dramatic winged liner and glossy lips prevailed.

Shiny costumes were the highlights of the 80’s era.
Fashion trends- Since many decades, fashion and style was a huge part to portray the look and expression in bollywood industry. Actresses like Parvin Nahi and Zeenat Aman continued to adorn the era with glam yet sophisticated fashion.


A denim shirt isn’t a new thing but it has became a classic and essential for the girls in the last few years. “Urmila Matondkar”, already showed us the right way to wear denim shorts and high waist jeans in the movie “Rangeela”. The great thing about a denim shirt is , they are so cool and versatile and a easy go to style.

Midi dresses became a thing of the 80’s bollywood fashion. From Tina Munim in the famous movie Karz to Hema Malini in Satte pe Satta, they looked as trendy as ever!

When the movie-“Dil toh pagal hai” hit the screens, active wear became super popular. Everyone wanted to look like a Karisma Kapoor. All of her outfits that were heavily sportswear looked effortless and cool. This style has made its return recently with more simple silhouettes and matching sets for every day.

However, the Chiffon Saree really found its footing and evolved in the 90’s. While it gets updated every few years, with new modified look.

Fashion trends from the 2000’s are now making a comeback. Like micro mini and crop tops, by Kareena Kapoor in Kabhi khushi kabhi gham. This outfit is very much trendy nowadays.

Recently, Sonam Kapoor won everyone’s heart when she displayed her girl next door looks in her films. She is one of the best fashionista of bollywood industry. She always dress up with new looks and versatility. She is widely ranked as one of the top fashion icon.

2000’s style was very much elegant with a extreme version of trends. A lot of colourful dresses and prints were a must. And no wonder, in current times , there is a huge comeback of colourful dresses like 2000’s era with more new styles and designs.

High waist pants always keep coming back in style. It’s a trending style since 90’s. One couldn’t just avoid it to wear. For Kajol in DDLJ to Karisma Kapoor, high waist pants was one of the most trendy and casual style for everyday wear!

Afterwards, lehengas became the most favourite outfit choice for weddings and special occasions. Many new styles has been introduced, but now again the trends of modern, opulent and intricate lehengas became the most common outfits for any occasions.

Earlier, there was Chauogoshiya Saree and now this has been recreated by the Pant style saree. It’s a century old style of saree which now has been coming in trend with a unique style!

And ofcourse, lehengas have been around forever. Aishwarya Rai in “Hum dil de chuke Sanam”, looked like an absolute dream in the mixture of lehengas.

Sarees are new upcoming ethnic fashion attire. And, the designers recreating the saree with more modification of designs. Saree is the new upcoming fashion trend replacing the designer dresses or suits. Wearing a saree is a timeless art that has travelled aeons and continues to flourish. There is a wide range of designer sarees available which are as modern as they are traditional.
